I don’t live somewhere where I could be fired on a whim, like so many awful parts of the US, but the company was worried about “reputational damage” so they were going to make life difficult.

I hated the job, so I walked out (after making sure that they would pay me everything I was owed, which was tens of thousands of dollars in entitlements)

The guys who I worked with were celebrating me, I walked out of that place a living legend.

I promise, there’s a lot of work that goes into doing this to make it safe!

I’m lucky. I had enough resources behind me, and a set of skills that are in demand. It still took five months to start to get things back on track, and there’s still work to go

I don’t regret it, but I wouldn’t recommend my experience to anyone, especially someone young, without the ability to recover from such an upheaval as I experienced

I will almost never tell anyone not to do something. That doesn’t work. I can offer the voice of experience, and tell you about the hard lessons I learnt
