In my teen years and 20s I was a skinny dude, broom legs and arms and flat torso, I’m also very tall for a latino so made it more noticeable. But now that I’m on my mid 30s and that anything that I drink or eat is getting harder to “digest” I’m now overweight, still skinny limbs but with a protruding belly, like majority of Latinos here (we don’t believe in diets) and I don’t care anymore.

I was worried about my look as a kid but then realised that I wasn’t going to do anything with it, I’m not a model or role model for anything, unfortunately I will not be able to have my own family and I’m hoping to have a short lifespan so my health isn’t something that I care that much, don’t give a shit about my life tbh.

There’s a certain sensation of solace with that realisation accompanied by depression, then pain, but hey, life sucks after all, took me 30 years to get there.

It’s not about being in your thirties. What you are experiencing is depression.

You’re rationalizing and justifying your depression by associating it with age and portraying it as an unavoidable rite of passage. I don’t say this to try and change the course of your life, I just think it’s worth addressing your demons by their real names. It makes everything a lot easier, even if you really do decide in the end not to fight them.

Just my 2c, wishing all the best to you

    My dude.

I’m nearly 50. I still go to the gym, lift, run, and give a shit about what I eat. I care about how I look, even if I’m never going to be happy with it.

This shit matters, unless you want to be barely functional when you’re my age, and not functional at all when you’re in your 70s. You’re betting that you aren’t going to make it into your 50s, but that’s a really bad bet to make unless you’re willing to act on your nihilism to ensure that you don’t.

But I’m not you though. I bet you’re a more functional and successful specimen of a human being than me. I’m not, even when I was in shape. There’s no point.

The time you spend on here whining and complaining that everything is pointless is time you could be spending on a walk, doing yoga, having fun swimming…

I apologize for the rude remark, but you need to realize that the only obstacle between you and “being in good shape” is yourself.

Although you should probably see a mental health professional about your self-defeating attitude first.

You don’t need to see the point of it to do it anyway. Why are you accepting defeat in this situation? Why aren’t you angry?

Get mad. Get your body moving. Force your body to start producing some feel good chemicals and you will have one more tiny bit of leverage against your brain, which is actively lying to you right now if you are indeed depressed.

These are thoughts and feelings you might have when you reach your 60’s or 70’s. You are a “young ‘un”. Please talk with someone in person, be it a counselor, dietician, doctor or friend.

Temporary depression is no reason to harm your future. You will care in 30 years when your knees hurt because you’ve been carrying extra weight for 30 years. “Latinos don’t believe in diets” is a ridiculous excuse. No one should be on a “diet”. You eat whatever you want but in moderation at below your calorie requirements and you will lose weight.

I have no future dude I genuinely don’t care. Also Latinos don’t believe in eating small as well. Go ask any Latino household.

Latino here, you can’t generalize what millions of people do or think about something.

I for one am in my forties and take good care of my body, I want to be as healthy as possible for the rest of my life so I can be happy and not a burden to my loved ones.

        Seek help.

Good for you but you’re minority. All people I’ve been surrounded and worked are fat and out of shape. Because they eat more and don’t care about their look. Not a single one in 3 decades looked in shape except as kids and even then we all ate the same amount of “porquerias”

like majority of Latinos here (we don’t believe in diets) and I don’t care anymore.

bro Mexico and other latin countries have amazing food culture, y’all fucking got put on sugar and american goy slop over last 20 years to the point where you make americans feel “small”

MX alone provide some many things to the world… who does not love tomatoes? if that guys exists, he should be taken to the farm

go back to your cultural roots, that’s some fucking great food and you should not be getting fat off it.

DON’T EAT THE TRASH CORPOS FEED YOU!

Similar situation. Grew up skinny, no matter what I ate. It got to the point where I kind of gave up early on to get a “beach body”.

In my 20’s I got reasonably comfortable with myself, as it turned out that I did fairly OK no matter my shape.

I never really tried to get into shape except when I was practicing karate a few years ago and it became really apparent that my stamina was awful.

Now I’m a middle aged dude, and I don’t really care, I’m doing fine. I’m blessed with genes that prevent me from getting fat and losing my hair, so I don’t see why I would want to change anything.

Same here. But you’ll kind of start to care again when your doctor starts giving papers with lists of food you can eat on it.

I had a coworker with such a list. After being on a texan BBQ diet all his life, he now has to compensate through his lunches. When the rest of us grabbed a kebab or something similar, his lunch consisted of one (1) hard boiled egg.

I don’t see how TX BBQ is at fault… unless he eats that shit every meal. It is good protein, just needs to be part of the balanced diet.

He prolly slurps soda and his idea of vegetable is potato salad…

I recently realized I hadn’t taken the time to appreciate the fact that I had the body of a teenager when I was a teenager, or the body of a 20-year-old when I was a 20-year-old, and I know I’m going to miss this body when I’m 40, so nowadays when I’m looking at my health I just go through the list of shit that’s not wrong with me yet. helps out, sort of a morose gratitude mindset

I was about to comment on the health benefits (rather than looks), then I read that that also doesn’t matter to you.

I suppose it’s a lot less to think of, if that works for you, then great!
