I saw a post criticizing Harris (from the left) immediately after the announcement. Clicked on OP’s account and saw that up until just then, they had been very concerned about Biden’s age. Oh, and before that, unwilling to vote genocideJoe.

I show up. I always show up. No matter how hopeless or how confident in the outcome. I encourage other citizens to do the same.

Which part is the disinformation? I think “genocide Joe” is a bit over the top, but Biden has clearly not pushed back on the Palestinian genocide as hard as the left (reasonably) wants. As for Biden’s age, I think that’s been pretty well vindicated now.

I don’t dispute that the right disingenuously jumps on leftist issues, but I also think we need to grapple with the fact that the Democratic establishment has continuously chosen to make the party vulnerable to such attacks. Democrats should suck less than they do, not just less than Republicans.

The “GenocideJoe” rhetoric sort of ignores the fact that it would be even worse with Trump.

Itd be more accurate to go with “NotAsMuchGenocideJoe” vs “MaximumGenocideTrump”

While Trump is personally worse on this and so many other issues, Biden’s complete failure to contain Israel means that the results would probably be nearly identical.

There’s no indication Trump could be worse on Gaza. That’s something said by people who haven’t faced the reality of what’s actually happening there.

I’m willing to vote for and encourage others to vote for Harris. Biden is still Genocide Joe to me, there’s just no better nickname that reflects the true horror of what he helped enable.

I think zionist bots are in damage control right now same as the Rusdian/Chinese bots. Trying to make it seem like the pressure that led to Biden stepping down wasn’t a referendum on Biden’s out of control zionism.

And then there are people trying to square the reality that they have been dogmatically and aggressively defending a genocide enabler when they should’ve been calling for him to step down with everyone else. People are uncomfortable confronting what that means about them as people.

Right, I’m not saying Trump is pro-palestine, I’m saying Biden placed exactly 0 limits on Israel, so they’re doing exactly as they wish (same as they’d do under Trump).

I think what’s revealing about you zionist guys is that you’re not making the same “not as bad on Israel” when it comes to Biden and Harris. If Biden is left of Trump on Israel (he’s not, but assuming your claim is true) then Harris is even further left of Biden.

You would think that having someone who polls better, who is to the left of Biden on Israel, would be good. Instead you’re still trying to do damage control for a guy who is no longer going to be in power and who has literally done nothing but give them more bombs and aid, same as Trump would.

Right, but they literally already have billions in weapons and bombs from Biden. If you pour more water into an already overflowing bucket the bucket doesn’t become more full. People need to actually look at what’s happening in Gaza, not just what they hear on NPR or MSNBC.

I think people are just unwilling to admit that the moral pressure against Biden was the right play from the start, and that it worked. Biden’s not even going to be in office but people still need to try to justify to themselves how just a few weeks ago they were doing everything they could to try and shut down criticisms of Biden’s genocide complicity.

People don’t want to admit they were wrong on this because they know what it means morally – that their place in history would be the same as the german citizens who stood by and made excuses for themselves during WWII.

They don’t need our help shelling the region, what are you talking about? Israel doesn’t need a signature to continue indiscriminate dronestrikes, they are doing that right now. They’ve cut off foid and water, they’ve destroyed all the hospitals and schools, they’re bombing the save zones, bulldozing cemetaries, literally shooting people indiscriminately.

I really get the impression you don’t actually understand what’s going on in Gaza. There is no “moderating hand” from Biden, and he’s given them everything they want already.

We’re going to see a coordinated effort to flood every media outlet with as much shit as possible to see what will stick until eventually some unmitigated bullshit catches enough people’s attention to become the central talking point. At that point, whatever it is, will become essentially equivalent to the worst things Trump has done (which is a lot).

Could be she parked illegally and didn’t pay the ticket. Doesn’t matter. It’ll still be just as bad in voters’ minds as inciting an insurrection to overthrow the election.

No, actually, it doesn’t. Propaganda is just “communication that is primarily used to influence or persuade an audience to further an agenda”.

It can be all verifiable facts, and it also doesn’t need to be bad either. The difference between a propaganda account and a non-propaganda account is mostly whether it is posting about one single issue on one single side all the time.

Joe Biden has dropped out of the race for US President, endorsing Kamala Harris. There’s a large disinformation campaign against Biden focused on things like his age, that now have to pivot to finding things wrong with Harris.

On that note, now Trump is only 2 years away from what they said was too old.

I figured I’d give you the benefit of the doubt, and scrolled through your account history.

Instead of simply exhaling sharply through my nose, thinking there’s no way Russian bots actually give a shit about Lemmy, now I’m actually convinced that you’re a Russian troll.

You’ve posted about 100 comments a day since joining about a month ago. The longest gap between comments I can find is 6 hours. So at the very least, you’re a troll and terminally online.

In a number of these comments, you go way out of your way to tow the Russian propaganda line. Derailing your own points just to clarify that you didn’t say the thing that coincidentally Russia doesn’t want people to say.

Simping for Putin doesn’t quite explain why you’d care if someone said crimea was invaded or annexed. But being paid to spread propaganda sure fits the bill.

Buddy, saying you’re being paid is generous, that’s the best case scenario for you. If you’re not being paid then you’re just catastrophically stupid, and missing out on some really easy money.

How many other places do you go? How many accounts do you have?

Just Lemmy, and just this account. I quit Reddit when I started using Lemmy.

There’s just not enough content on Lemmy to keep you this occupied.

I don’t know what you mean by “this occupied”. I don’t think I’m on here that much. I browse a a few times a day and reply when I get notifications.

now I’m actually convinced that you’re a Russian troll.

This level of discourse is why America is collapsing.

(At this point, it’s probably for the best.)

You’ve posted about 100 comments a day since joining about a month ago.

        And you’re terrible at math.

Edit: It works out to about 8 comments a day, but I guess you’re rounding up to the nearest 100.

Be tired of it all you want, it doesn’t change that there are literally Russian troll farms at work every day.

But attributing all opposition to troll farms?

If the best rebuttal that Democrats have to any argument is “that’s what a Russian troll would say!”, then they deserve to lose.

Also, don’t you realize that you’re making Russia look good? If the only options are supporting genocide or being a Russian asset, I’d choose being a Russian asset.

So about those Ukrainians. Or is genocide, like imperialism, only bad when America does it?

I dunno man. It’s definitely getting repetitive, but when we know that there is a substantial Russian disinfo machine out there and support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine is such a consistent theme in these people AND Putin is one of the major beneficiaries of the general turn towards right-wing authoritarianism (because when our politicians say and do the same things it legitimizes those antidemocratic elements of his own regime), it’s not an unfair connection to keep drawing.

The most compelling argument to not call them Russian troll farmers would be for them to simply stop saying all the things a Russian troll farmer would say.

when we know that there is a substantial Russian disinfo machine out there

But… is there? I mean, I know Russian disinformation exists, but could you really say it’s “substantial”? It seems to me that Russian disinformation couldn’t be even 1% as damaging as the disinformation put out by Fox News or Donald Trump.

Why is there all this concern about foreign disinformation when the most damaging disinformation is coming from within America? (And remember, Donald Trump’s political ascent was built on “Obama is a secret Muslim born in Kenya”.)

It seems to me that the main reason we hear so much about foreign disinformation is because it’s a boogeyman to stop you from questioning your country’s narratives.

“Remember: Anyone who questions America’s narratives is a foreign agent! If you ever start to think maybe your country’s narratives are wrong, you’re being duped by foreign agents.”

Also, the influence of Russian trolls on Lemmy is definitely overstated. As far as I can see, anything that doesn’t sound like it came from the mouth of a Democrat gets downvoted into oblivion.

I mean, it’s inherently hard to quantify the impact of this kind of thing, but in terms of Putin’s goals for it I think “substantial” is pretty reasonable. It’s not effective in that Russia can’t trigger a color revolution in America any more than America can trigger a color revolution in Ukraine, Serbia, Georgia, or any of the Arab Spring nations. But just because they aren’t the source of the divisions in American society that form these fault lines doesnt mean they aren’t actively trying to widen them. Especially when we’re talking about the America First crowd and the Conspiracy Left I think it’s entirely fair to point out loudly and often how the narrative they’re advancing is backed by adversarial powers that actively want to weaken America specifically and democracy in general.

Or to refer back to the original meme, Jimmy Dore may think he’s a lefty, but all his political actions and rhetoric work to the benefit of fascists rather than working people.

People aren’t attributing all opposition to trolls, only the stuff that very clearly aligns with Russian/CCP/Israeli narrative building.

Jimmydoreisalefty is clearly a propaganda account. The amount of posts they aggregate daily is itself sign that this isn’t just some guy. There was no eamp up with that account either, it literally appeared on lemmy and started blasting 20-30 posts aday.

The account’s also hours of activity as suss as well.

Downvote if you want, but “Anyone who doesn’t tow the party line must be a traitor to the country” is how you’re losing a generation of voters.

Every commenter on Lemmy who isn’t voting for Biden is a Russian asset.

Fairly sure there is a quite few people on Lemmy who can’t vote in the US elections because they are not Americans.

IDK about Jill Stein but Donald and Tucker are 100%. “Being against an authoritarian adversary state is literal Naziism,” ok buddy.
